A work in progress, gradually assembled in my backyard. A simple, functional home for my gear which allows me to exercise astronomy and astrophotography more frequently. No permanent pier, no concrete slab, just four walls and a roof (?) over my gear. The observatory consists of a 2m x 2m metal frame, split top (clamshell variant) opening roof design, plywood & insulated paneling. The roofs are held in place by 6mm chains welded to the frames. The chains rest on adjustable hooks so I can raise or lower the roof height independently aswell as open only one of the two If I so choose. Works great as a Sun shade for solar observing / imaging! Sakis Sofianopoulos, my neighbor and friend, whose help has been paramount in the realization of this dream, is seen here welding the East wall frame.
